Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing a mental health service provider can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be.  Browse the frequently asked questions below to learn more about my practice and services.

What counseling approaches do you use?

I integrate various therapeutic methods into my practice, drawing from a diverse toolkit that includes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), solution-focused techniques, and mindfulness-based strategies. This allows me to tailor our sessions to best meet your unique needs and goals. These evidence-based techniques are proven to help clients achieve their therapy goals faster and more effectively.  I aim to meet you where you are, challenge you when needed, and help you to make positive changes for a healthier life.

What is Telehealth and how does it work?

Telehealth provides you with the opportunity to receive counseling remotely in the comfort and privacy of your own space, saving you from travel time and expenses. My telehealth platform ensures that your privacy and confidentiality are protected in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). I utilize encrypted video conferencing technology and secure communication channels to safeguard your personal information throughout your sessions.

Do you accept insurance? What are your self pay rates?

How long are therapy sessions? How often should I attend?

Yes, in addition to being on multiple insurance panels, I also offer self-pay and affordable sliding scale rates (based on financial need). If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

Standard sessions are typically 45-60 minutes long and may occur weekly or bi-weekly. The duration of therapy varies depending on your unique needs and goals. Some individuals find relief and achieve their objectives in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We'll discuss your progress regularly and adjust the duration of therapy accordingly.

Is therapy confidential for minors?

What is your cancellation policy?

Life can be unpredictable, and there may be times when you need to cancel or reschedule your session. I ask that you please provide 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. This allows me time to fill your spot with someone else who may be in need of services. Late cancellations are subject to a cancellation fee. Missed sessions or "no-shows" will be charged the full session rate.

Confidentiality applies to therapy sessions with minors. There are legal and ethical considerations regarding confidentiality when it comes to minors, particularly if there are concerns about a child's safety or well-being. I will discuss confidentiality and any limitations with you and your child at the beginning of therapy. Building trust with minors is essential for the therapeutic process to be effective, therefore I believe in respecting minors privacy and involve them in decisions about their treatment and the extent of parent involvement. This approach empowers minors to take an active role in the therapeutic process.
