A Little About Me

Samantha Storch, LMHC

It sounds really cheesy, but I've enjoyed helping others since a young age. After completing my first psychology course in high school, I knew therapy was the career path I wanted to take and I never looked back. I’ve also experienced firsthand how transformative therapy can be. Anxiety and depression severely impacted me during and after pregnancy. When I eventually found the courage to seek help, it profoundly changed my life. This personal journey ignited a deep passion for supporting mothers through pregnancy and beyond. Women’s health is often neglected, and despite it being 2024, maternal healthcare remains outdated and inadequate. We need and deserve better!

Alongside my work with mothers, I bring over a decade of experience supporting adolescents and young adults through the complexities of growing up. I specialize in IEP/504 planning and offer school support as needed. Additionally, I lead stress management workshops tailored for children and teens.

When I'm not in therapist mode, you can usually find me spending time with my family. I enjoy exercising, traveling, listening to podcasts, and relaxing on the couch with my cats.

My Approach

I utilize a client-centered, empathetic approach to therapy, focusing on building strong, supportive connections throughout the process. My clients often appreciate my sense of humor, honesty, and empathy. Unlike the stereotypical therapist you might see on TV or in the movies, I don't constantly ask how you feel. Instead, I offer a relaxed, casual approach that allows you to feel comfortable sharing your struggles. I genuinely want to understand you and will be honest about letting you know when you’re limiting yourself to a more fulfilling life.

I draw from a diverse range of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), solution-focused, and mindfulness-based approaches. I am currently in the process of getting a PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health Certification). I’m LGBTQ+ affirming and have worked with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, spiritualities, genders, and sexual orientations. I love getting to know people in all their facets — the good, the bad, the quirky, and the unexpected.
